On Saturday we visited Rejiji Wines’ vineyard in Tenkes. Rejiji Wines was established in 2012 by a Finnish-Hungarian couple, Reijo Itkonen and Judit Pap. This vineyard holds the winery and wine cellar, which have both been totally renovated in the last few years. The vineyard consists of Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and recently planted Kékfrankos.  In 2016, Rejiji Wines transitioned to organic wine growing.

Soon they will open a wine tasting place with a beautiful terrace view in Tenkes that will attract e.g. hotel quests from the neighborhood.  We also passed their vineyard in Kopár which is the most prestige wine area in Villány. In the end of the tour we had wine tasting in the Rejiji Wines’ tasting room in Villány and enjoyed the beautiful autumn weather on the terrace.

Rejiji Wines’ capacity is around 10 000 bottles a year in the premium category and they are exporting part of their wines abroad, especially to Finland, where their wines can be found at several top restaurants in Helsinki.

Dinner was enjoyed in the Bock Óbor Restaurant where we had a chance to taste their wines and visit the huge wine cellar.

On Sunday before leaving back to Budapest we went to visit the Pécsi Sőr Brewery to make sure that nobody had to go home thirsty. Bence Bacsó took us around the brewery, told about their interesting history and beer making. We also had a chance to taste their delicious beers. It was nice to hear that the Pécsi Sőr imports a gluten free beer to Finland as well.

We had a very nice and relaxing weekend and the weather could not have been better. A big thank you to György Kator, Reijo Itkonen, Judit Pap, Bence Bacsó and our nice group including the new Finnish Ambassador Pertti Anttinen who now knows what is pörkölt and paprikás csirke:)
